Sometime towards the end of May, I'm heading to what was once a lake centuries ago to spend almost two and a half weeks learning, helping out and sharing what knowledge I have (apparently I'm supposed to be educated enough to be able to share some best practices! *shiver*) with my counterparts over there. I'm both equally excited and scared at the same time - hweeyen hates presentations and is shy! And although Rachel calls me a crazy churchtype, which essentially means part of what's inbuilt in my character is the ability to make friends easily, I worry that it's going to be a bit tough to communicate or have them like me enough to speak to me - yes, I'm a banana, non-chinese speaking Chinese :)
Okay, so for the most important part, I can say, "Chiu Ming ah!!!!" to save my life but apart from that, my ability to converse in mandarin is limited to ordering food and erm...yes, that's pretty much it.
I'm comforted by the fact that my colleagues over there speak English (of course!) because a large part of our clientele are MNCs, but yet, there's just something about travelling to a foreign country and needing to adapt within the first couple of days. For all I know, by the time I actually settle in, it'll be time to leave - such is the nature of business trips. I don't know how my girlfriends do it!
Nonetheless, Taipei here I come... :)
Mental note: buy or borrow english-mandarin dictionary from someone....

On another note, I've had this album for so long but because it was in another format, I procrastinated in converting it....I just found this such a gem.
Brooke sings....
When the world is falling out from under me
I'll be found You, still standing
When the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees
when time and space are through
I'll be found in You...
Brooke Fraser - Shadowfeet
Enjoy! :)

Wooo....sounds fun!
I like the phrase 'crazy church-type'. It's like a sub-species that's begging to be studied.
yeah, i'm excited! :)
ahhahaa..yeah, she used to call me that all the time. She claims me and Sue are just the same - crazy-chruch-types - and proud of it!
